Bakeless Cookies

Carey asked me to post mom's recipe for bakeless cookies or better known as chocolate globs. If you leave out the cocoa and add peanuts, you get her other version of the cookies. Mom used oleo, but I use butter.

2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups oatmeal

Mix sugar, butter, milk, and cocoa in saucepan. Boil for about one minute.

Off the heat, mix in peanut butter, vanilla, and oatmeal. Drop by rounded teaspoon onto waxed paper. Let harden.

Enjoy!!

Boy, do those bring back memories, Kristin. Mother had a knack with these cookies as she did with so many things that she made. Her chocolate "blobs", like her cinnamon and bread rolls, and her navy bean soup were the best I've ever tasted. Thanks for the posting.

Gina I remember all those things too. She made rolls in round pan and she would take a stick of butter and coat the top. Sometimes, not often, if you can home from school at the right time you could have one before dinner. Soft, warm...

Boy, you were lucky to get one of those rolls while still warm. That night with vegetable soup, those rolls were wonderful.
I recently found a recipe for cinnamon rolls that might be like mom's. I haven't tried them yet, but if they resemble hers, I will post again.
Before she finished the navy bean soup, she would take out two small cups for us. We would put salt, pepper and butter on them. YUM!!

Kris, I may be the only person on earth that doesn't like peanut butter OR oatmeal. I have tasted these but I alway left plenty for the Sybs. I do remember how good the fresh baked rolls and the vegetable soup were.
