Black Friday Shopping or More Room For Your Stuff

I am devoted bargin hunter, so I have looking at Black Friday Ad previews on the net for two weeks. Among other things of interest, I saw this 10' plastic kayak offered for $200.00. My first foray on Friday, however, was a different mission. I saw a good Toshiba notebook for $300.00 at Frys Electronics. They were to open at 5:00 AM and knew that people would be waiting outside for several hours, but I mentioned to Greg that I might try to get him one. His computer died (fried) in the recent lightning strike. I got up at about 5:30 and drove up to Frys at about 6:00 AM. I knew it was a zoo when I had to wait to get off the service road and into the parking lot. I entered their property and fortunately found the very first parking spot just vacated. I used this spot to turn around and escape the mayhem. As I drove around the store on the back roads I was amazed to see the cars parked parked in adjacent office park lots and people already wheeling the big screens TVs out to these remote areas. There must have been about 10,000 people in this store. I was off to my back up shopping option a few blocks away, Home Depot. This was a terrific experience. There were plenty of people already there, but the lot was not full. I was greeted at the door by an employee with a shopping cart and a sale flyer. Once inside another associate greeted me and offered to be my personal assistant to find the bargins. There were supplier representatives tending their stacks on each end cap display. I spent $200.00 for $550.00 worth of power tools and was on my way home by 6:30 AM.

I went back out later in the morning to purchase the kayak. The paddle had to come from another store ( a much better paddle for a lower price). I came home with the kayak and Kathy kind of nudged me to get another one so I could go out with the Sons in Law or other friends, so we went back on Saturday for another to match the first. This is where we get to "Room For Your Stuff". I was able to relocate the wakeboard and skis on this ceiling rack in the garage to make a perfect spot for the Pelican ES100 pair. Come on Spring! Were going to the lake.

Amazing that you need more lake toys!! You are creative with the storage. Did you get Greg the computer?

No, I never went back to the electronics store. The six people to get the $300.00 notebooks were probably in line at midnight the day before. I have a notebook for Greg, as soon as I open up and load my files to the new Sony Vaio I bought for my self two weeks ago.

Sounds like you had a successful holiday!. I think you'll enjoy your new boats our once a week trip to the lake helps.

We just spent 11,000 on the roof so not a whole lot of spending going on around here so we missed the crowds (but also any bargains out there).

We did go see Livingston Taylor in a newly opened venue (an 1890's building) which was our holiday event. I would recommend him if he gets close.

Kathy and I saw Livingston Taylor at a small (church) venue in Fort Worth several years ago. He sat in audience and walked around to chat up the patrons right up to the time he went on stage. I found that extrodinarily kind and open. His show was wonderful and funny. I'd go again in a minute.
