Christmas in NYC

We went to town on Saturday and it was fun but the pictures didn't turn out so well. I took 55 pictures and I don't think any of them are any good. See for yourself here . Below is the best of my short videos. Oh well, maybe next year!

I think you choose a great time to visit the city. The lights and Christams decorations look very festive. Any of our small point and shoot cameras are going have a very difficult time capturing night scenes effectively. I am getting ready (mentally and financially and emotionally) for an upgrade to a SLR. I impulsively bought the new Nikon D60 when I saw it at Sams Club a couple of months ago. This is new generation with a much larger sensor than the D40 and certainly much larger than the point and shoot cameras. I kept the camera for about two weeks and took about 100 shots, many I was pleased with. I returned the camera to Sams (it has dropped in price since then fully $100.00 to $574.00) I then went to the professional camera stores and did my homework. I concluded that I wanted the D90 with more features including HD video capability. The D90 "Kit" comes with a longer lens than the D60, a 18 to 105. What I really want is the 18 to 200 VR lens that sells for about $700.00 alone. The camera body is listed at $1000.00 but you can find it for a little less. I guess I'll have to sell the Miata just to buy a camera. Maybe a I could sell my 2nd born child. Any Offers?

What a nice visit to NYC. I certainly agree with you about the picture with the comment "How long did this take?" It certainly looked very pretty.
Kevin, you are certainly into your camera. Good luck with your selection.
Happy Holidays to you all.
