Time to do the Taxes
I've always done our taxes by hand but the last few years have seemed stressful so I'm considering H&R Block or one of the tax packages. Anyone had any experience with this type of thing?
New Grandbabies in Arlington
Kathy's middle daughter Kristin delivered beautiful twin boys this past Sunday evening. Her water broke at home at about 9:45 in the evening. She called her Doc and then her mom. Kathy ran out the door in one minute and she and Todd had Kristin to the hospital in what seemed to be only 15 minutes. The babies were 6 weeks short of full term. Miles was 5-3 and Sam was 4-9. They will spend a few days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Center to gain a bit of weight and practice the sucking. Congratulations to Kris and Todd. We can't wait to see them home. We have used Turbo-Tax for the last four years. The Deluxe version is about $60.00. It is very easy to follow for most returns, but I made a mistake on one form three years ago and the IRS found it and sent me the request to amend the return. This electronic format allows you to stop and start easily and of course file the final return electronically. We went to the H&R Block Office for two years before that and the cost of the return prep was $450.00. I'm either going back to Turbo-Tax this year or find a qualified CPA (to give my $450.00). Donny Collins has used Turbo-Tax for years. It seems to work well for him.

Bill said that through our PSECU credit union, there is a discount available for the purchase of Turbo Tax. Perhaps yours or Corby's credit union also provides a discount toward the purchase.
Bill also thought that H&R Block would charge at least $300 and agrees that when you are paying that kind of money it would be smarter to use a CPA which is what we did for years.

I guess I'll try Turbo-Tax but I guess you can still make mistakes. I made simple (but stupid) mistakes the last 2 years and want to avoid filling out the forms.
I here what you're saying about H&R Block.
Kris, I just glanced at that site but it looks like it's a web site. Do you know what they are doing with your data? As you no doubt know you need to be careful giving people your data (even when they seem to be doing you a favor.)

I do not know what they do with the data. I know that you can import from year to year. I have used it for 4 years. If you don't want to fill out forms, you will need another type of filing - CPA or such.
