Utah ideas?

We leave for SLC next Sat and will there for a week before heading out to explore natural Utah for another week. Anyone have favorites? food? scenery? hikes? We'll be in Canyonlands, Arches, Moab area...not sure if we'll go to Bryce (we did go there on our move from Lexington to Oakland.) Maybe Petrified Forest?? or too touristy? Friends suggested cafe at Sundance for lunch/dinner. We're thinking of spending the last Sat night in the Park City area as we don't have to fly out until 3 on Sunday....

I have never traveled to Utah. Carey might have some suggestions. Sounds as if you are going to have 2 weeks of fun exploring. Good luck.

I have travelled to Salt Lake City on business. The Wasatch Range is remarkably bueatiful as viewed from the city. I did not travel up to Park Cities or Alta.

I went to Moab on another trip, solely with the motivation to ride the "Slickrock" on my mountain bike. It was very much worth the time, but from my prospective of negotiating the rock on two tires. I think that Arches will be more scenic.

 When watching the evening news today, I saw an image of coal barges lined up at the docks at the USS Mon Valley Steel Plant.  Of course the news segment was about the White House blocking the sale of USS to Nippon Steel.  My mind wandered to to dad's career at the Robena Prep Plant.  I didn't think that it was still in operation but I searched for more information.  I found that the Robena deep mines closed in 1983, but plant continued to operate until 2017 processing coal from surface mining for Consol Mining.  It seems that reclamation of the site began many years before 2017, most likely mandated by local concerns about environmental damage from seepage from the three large slurry ponds and other surface contamination.  Dad took me out one Sunday afternoon to inspect the dikes and berms around the ponds.  We had to hop into one of the big company trucks to traverse the dirt roads around the site.
