I looked at your pictures of Christmas and your birthday tonight. Kevin. Your house looked wonderful for Christmas. As did you! There is a picture of you and Todd in your Christmas album that is great of you. You also looked quite handsome on your birthday. I'm sure that your favorite gift is those snuggly buddies! WHAT a hoot!

There were certainly lots of presents at that house. I loved the pictures of Kathy with all of her grandkids and the one of Kathy with her girls and their PJs-tradition that carries down to the grandchildren. I am sure that fun was had by all.

The birthday near Christmas looked like a big deal. Your cake certainly had a lot of icing on it. I bet the kids LOVED it.

Stephanie gave me the Snugly Buddies for my birthday. One of the girls went to the computer and ran the the TV ad that has been running. It was a hoot - - - almost like the specials from Ronco or Popiel that used to run at 1:00 AM. We all noticed that the TV offer included two robes AND two book lights. We all cracked up with the curse I let out; "That Damn Stephanie stole the Book Lights". I had lunch with Steph yesterday and I mentioned this joke to her. She fessed up. She did steal the book light (or rather Donny and Drew each scarfed them up before Steph wrapped my present.)

Cheering for the Home Team

Greg and I went in to Dallas on a rainy Tuesday evening to see the Dallas Mavericks take on Kobe and the Lakers. Our Mavs forgot to participate in the first half and were down as much as 24 points. The coach (The Little General) must have pulled in some big markers in the locker room at half time because it was a different team that took the floor after the break. You can see that we were 3 points down at 21 seconds to go and we pulled it back to one point at 12 seconds. The game went to LA in the end but we certainly got our money's worth. We'll soon see how this season pans out, but tonight we take on the lead leading Boston Celtics. They don't stand a chance.

  Elta Lee Frick Mechling 1873 - 1941 The Kennison kids did not get to meet and know our great-grandmother Elta, as she passed in 1941 at the age of 68 as the result of an apparent heart attack.  We surely know of Elta's love and care for family from the character of her only daughter Josephine and the gentle demeanor of her husband Arthur.  This couple helped raise our dad and his siblings when John Kennison abandoned his young family.  This photo of Elta was on display for many years in the foyer area of Ginny's home.   Elta is laid to rest alongside of her husband Arthur Shupe Mechling in the Sylvan Heights Cemetery in Uniontown .  I traced her ancestry on Find A Grave and find that her roots are similar to Arthur's, coming from humble backgrounds in Europe, ultimately arriving in Philadelphia in 1767.  Grandmother Jo proudly served in the Daughters Of The American Revolution due to this heritage.  Here is the linage on her dad's side...
