Inauguration

Melissa and I are putting on layers of clothes and heading to the national Mall to join hundreds of thousands of our friends and neighbors in viewing the swearing-in of President Obama. We will be more than a mile from the Capital, but they have set up jumbo TV monitors so that we can see and hear the ceremony.

On Saturday,we attended the "We Are One" concert at the Lincoln Memorial. We arrived more than three hours early, so we were close enough to see the Obamas, Bidens, Springsteen, Bono, Stevie Wonder, Pete Seeger, etc. They looked like ants, some of whom held tiny guitars.

On Saturday evening, we attended a reception hosted by the Oklahoma State Society at the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian. It was a lovely evening, capped by a rousing sing-along rendition of the title song from "Oklahoma!".

How wonderful for you both to be able to participate in such historic celebrations. The concert was quite a grouping of performers that you will probably never see repeated. I am watching Barack as I post. What a day - and an inspiration for all of us to work together to accomplish the turn around that our country needs. Thaw out at Stoney's and celebrate with your friends.

Jeff, your facial hair and snazzy glasses give you a different look.

I love your new post! I thought of you all weekend with all of the activities. I have watched all morning and I think I spotted you on the mall. Jeff, I really like the hip new look. It does become you.

I'm in awe (but not really surprised) that you both braved the cold and the crowds to participate in so many of the events that are part of the inauguration. You sounded quite happy about what you'd experienced when I talked with you. Looking forward to seeing those pictures!

Folks,

If you haven't clicked on the pic do so. I think I got a better idea of what it was like to be watching those "ants (some with guitars) in the cold.
